Hello — I’m Rina. Welcome to our backyard.
Meadowlark Blooms started right here at our home in Trail Creek, Indiana — a place that’s been in John’s family since 1958. His Babcia and Dzia Dzia built this house after immigrating here from Poland, and over the years, we’ve slowly been bringing the garden space back to life. A space filled with flowers, history and new purpose.
For a long time flowers have simply been part of how I welcome people. We host an Airbnb and I was always bringing in fresh blooms to make each guest’s stay feel warm, thoughtful, and special. One afternoon I visited a friend and neighbor whose garden was overflowing with beautiful flowers. Standing there surrounded by what she had grown herself I felt inspired. I realized that maybe the flowers I was searching for could be grown right here at home.
So we gave it a try.
What started as a few simple rows quickly grew into something more. We planted hundreds of zinnias and dozens of dahlia varieties not fully knowing what we were doing only that I loved it. Somewhere along the way that curiosity turned into passion. Now, dahlias have completely captured my heart and I can’t seem to get enough of them.
We grow everything right here in our backyard on a small 1/2-acre lot in Trail Creek, Indiana. It’s not a traditional flower farm — just a neighborhood garden that continues to grow season by season.
As our garden expanded so did the desire to share it. We began offering fresh cut bouquets in summer and fall, tubers in the spring, and flowers for small gatherings and special occasions. Because space is limited and I always want to try new varieties selling tubers became a natural way to keep growing while passing along a little piece of the garden.
But more than anything, flowers have become a way to give.
Some of my greatest joy has come from cutting bouquets and sharing them with friends, neighbors, our community and often complete strangers. Flowers have a quiet way of saying what words sometimes cannot. They bring comfort, celebration, and connection in a way that feels simple and meaningful.
That heart for giving is what led us to become part of the Growing Kindness Movement — sharing flowers with those who may need a little extra light in their day.
The name Meadowlark Blooms comes from the street we call home. A small reminder that something beautiful can grow right where you are.
Whether you’re here to browse tubers, enjoy fresh flowers, or simply follow along, we’re so glad you’re here.
